Oak Tree Comics is donating what it makes from the sale of the book to the four nonprofits equally, after specified costs are taken into account.
What does that mean? For each book sale, Oak Tree Comics will recoup select production and distribution costs, such as the cost of printing the book, credit card processing fees, and shipping and handling, as these are variable costs. All remaining proceeds will be donated to the four nonprofits equally.
Meanwhile, Oak Tree Comics has donated all writer and artist fees, totaling just north of $50,000, and all other costs, including marketing.
If you found this landing site, you likely are part of the project or are enjoying an advance reader copy of We Are Los Angeles. Thank you for reading our book and for being part of our growing community. We plan to update this landing site biannually in early July and then at the start of each year to share how the project is going.
As of this writing, we are three months away from the book's debut. Between preorders made by our distributor and online sales made at OakTreeComics.com, we're glad to share just under 200 books have been preordered so far. To date, total sales to be donated to the four nonprofit partners is approximately $2000.
This landing site will be updated leading up to the book's debut. So, more soon!
